The event-exhibition by Interni began with the traditional Monday press conference that opens the FuoriSalone before the Salone del Mobile. This year, the exhibition takes place in four locations: Università degli Studi of Milan, Torre Velasca, Arco della Pace and Caselli Daziari in Piazza Sempione, Brera Botanical Garden

Every year in spring, Milan becomes the global design capital. This is because of the Milan Design Week, seven days with Salone del Mobile and FuoriSalone. Last year, these two events attracted to the city more than half a million people from approximately 200 different countries.

What is FuoriSalone? It is not only what happens outside the Rho exhibition, it is a symbiosis between the Salone del Mobile and the city. Design, as cultural project, is the real star. (Alberto Bonisoli, Minister for cultural heritage and activities)"

This year, sustainable design is the common theme of the Design Week inside and outside the Rho exhibition site. Be it biopolymers or wooden furniture with an extremely short supply chain, ecology is the buzzword. The environmental awareness of creative artists, designers and planners has made a quality leap: many installations and exhibitions are dedicated to projects that not only try to not do any harm to the Earth, but also try to give relief to the wounds of a planet on the verge of collapse.

Human Spaces is a theme that invited designers to put man at the centre of their creative processes. (Ernesto Mauri, CEO Mondadori Group)"

Interni magazineanimates this week with a series of installation inspired by sustainable well-being located in Università Statale, Torre Velasca, the Botanical Garden in Brera and Arco della Pace: The Perfect Time by Ico Migliore with M+S lab interprets the relationship between intuitive technology and human factor, and_Domesticity by Hani Rshid and Lise Anne Couture Asymptote Architecture investigates the future scenarios of electric mobility and autonomous drive, the huge word Help by Maria Cristina Finucci highlights ocean pollution and has been made with two tons of plastic caps, and the mycelium arches of The Circular Garden, a project by Carlo Ratti Associati at the Botanical Garden in Brera, are just examples.

On the occasion of Human Spaces, we are partners, and not sponsors of Interni: a partner shares, a sponsor is only looking for visibility. (Fabrizio Longo, Audi Italia Brand Director)"

Until 19 April, there will be an explosion of creativity based on sustainability, reuse, circular economy and, of course, design and architecture. While it is true that "life is more important than architecture" as Oscar Niemeyer maintained, it is also true that planners, architects and designers can help people live better.

With Human Spaces, we can see the connection between man and nature through the perspective of circular design that comes from the earth and goes back to the earth. (Monica Spada, Long term positioning initiatives coordinator at Eni)"

An event organized everywhere in the city, without censorships, that gives everybody the possibility to become surprised, taken aback, overwhelmed. A chance for disseminating ideas and culture. Where human beings, their needs, and care for the environment are the sources of inspiration of installations, defining a new design horizon where life and its expression are back in the centre of the creative process.

Through design and technology we design and manufacture household appliances to improve people’s lives in their homes. (Paolo Lioy, CEO Whirlpool Italia)"
