The studio Amin Taha Architects + Groupwork has renovated a house from the 1950s in the London zone of Bayswater, restoring the original travertine floor and the paneling in American cherry, whose reddish-brown tone adds warmth and elegance to the spaces.

Besides one room already faced with panels of American cherry, the architects have used the same elements in AHEC – American Hardwood Export Council sustainable wood for the spatial arrangement of other spaces in the house.

Another striking feature is the cantilevered travertine staircase rising from the semi-basement in a spiral towards the skylight on the upper level.
