At Fondazione Querini Stampalia, an exhibition on the more personal, less familiar side of the Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza, an outstanding figure on the international scene, who will receive the Leone d’Oro for the career of the 13th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennial. The show, organized by the cultural association MedicinaMentisin collaboration with Fondazione Querini Stampalia, comes from the many meetings the two curators Greta Ruffino and Raul Bettihave had with the architect in his studio in Oporto, to narrate – through 53 works from his notebooks, personally selected by Siza – not just his activity as an architect, but also other aspects of his life. The exhibition itinerary underlines his extraordinary photographic memory, starting with his drawings (including many portraits) made during his youth, with a section on the family, many trips abroad, and more recent scenes of dinners with friends or moments of leisure. Memories, sensations, ironic notes or visions, glimpses into the life of a great architect. www.viagemsemprograma.com.
