Myths and rituals of a pop icon – on view from July to September (closed in August) at Scuola Politecnica di Design, Via Carlo Bo 7, Milan

The panino is an icon of Italian culture in the world, but above all it is a kind of food that is ‘designed’ with skill and art. The designers of Scuola Politecnica di Design in Milan guided by Matteo Ragni and Antonio De Marco have met the challenge proposed by Panino Giusto and the Accademia del Panino Italiano: to address the variegated, complex experience that takes form around the Italian sandwich, from the ritual of preparation to serving and consuming.

The workshop Buono e giusto involved 26 international students of the Master in Industrial Design and generated 8 projects that sum up the creativity and the values of the Italian territory.

The exhibition narrates the unique qualities of the Italian panino in the world: an inimitable experience to enjoy and remember.

Three materials have been used for the products: wood, glass and ceramics, chosen to respond to the freshness and authenticity of the ingredients, with an eye on sustainability
