The first phase of selection in the competition launched by Ferrari, in collaboration with Autodesk, as technical partner and supporter of the project, has been completed. Seven finalists have been chosen from 50 prestigious international design schools. Students from all over the world will work, in the months to come, on the design of the Ferrari of the future. Two Italian schools are involved, namely IED and IAAD in Turin, joined by the Royal College of Arts of London, the European Design Institute of Barcelona (Spain), Hongik College ofSeoul (Korea), DSK Supinfocom of Pune (India) and the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. The second selection phase, following that of stylistic research, focuses on the making of models of three proposals each school can submit in 3D Autodesk ® Alias or as a physical model on a scale of 1:4. The goal is to develop the Ferrari of the future, a pure hypercar that uses technologies and materials of the latest generation, extreme in its architecture and all its functional aspects: hyper-light and hyper-fast, hyper-ecological and hyper-technological. Students will be asked to pay particularly close attention to details and interiors in the second phase, without overlooking functional features. The two best projects, announced on 19 July, will gain their creators an internship at Ferrari as well as cash prizes. Autodesk will also award a special prize to the team that makes best use of the Alias software in the project and the design process. www.ferrari.com.
