Legend, history or faith: the relic of the Holy Belt of the Virgin kept in the cathedral of Prato is undoubtedly the religious symbol of the city’s identity.

This legend gives rise to the exhibition at Palazzo Pretorio in Prato Bound by a Girdle: Our Lady of the Assumption by Bernardo Daddi and the identity of a city to shed light on the art of the 1300s, a period of great prosperity, with commissions to artists like Giovanni Pisano and Bernardo Daddi.

Over 60 works, organized around the reconstruction of the altarpiece by Bernardo Daddi, which can again be seen in its entirety, along with a fine series of paintings, sculptures and miniatures that narrate the city and its heritage of culture and beauty.
