The challenge is to design innovation through a plastic object. The total prize money up for grabs is 9000 euros (3000 euros for the best project, 1000 euros each for six special manufacturing prizes). The competition is organized by Promaplast, the organizer of Plast 2012, and by POLI.design, the consortium of the Milan Polytechnicthat operates to improve the design system of the school, especially the structures and faculty of the finest experimental laboratories in Europe for design, located at the Bovisa campus in Milan. The competition is supported by ADI, the Italian Association for Industrial Design and the guidelines were developed in keeping with international standards established by Icograda, Icsid, Ifi. The best projects will be shown at the fair Plast 2012, one of the world’s most important events for the industry of plastic materials and rubber, and the largest in Europe in 2012. Each designer (or design group) chooses a technological category and submits a product concept in one of the merchandise segments. Competitors should send a maximum of 4 panels illustrating the project, in digital form, to submission@plastictechnologiesaward.it. The jury will evaluate the innovative content of the project and the degree of adaptability to the possibilities and limits of the technology, in order to choose the finalists (a range of 3 candidates for first prize in the competition, and 2 candidates for each category of the special manufacturing prize).
