The guidelines for the competition “Toward an urban ecosystem. Visions for the sustainable city” are now online, an international contest for students and young architects, offering two study grants for the Master in Environmental Design organized by IED – the European Design Institute. The program is conducted in English, and provides designers with the tools to design and construct homes, buildings and urban systems that consume fewer resources, recycle materials, produce energy with clean, renewable sources, and reduce refuse and waste to a minimum. The competition encourages young architects and degree students to reflect on the theme of a new ecology of urban development, formulating visions, ideas or design proposals for reurbanization of their own cities, narrated through three simple postcards in digital format, ready to travel the world and to illustrate how our cities could be different, more beautiful, more equitable, in balance with the rest of the living planet.
