Contemporary technology in historical buildings: a regeneration project with the quality of Fakro roof windows
After the reunification of Germany, Postdamer Platz became a key location of urban and economic renewal in Berlin. Balancing tradition and modernity, Neue West is one of the most interesting examples of extensive renewal of its constructed fabric.
The complex includes residences, shops and art studios, featuring materials like brick, wood and plaster, including recycled parts.
The distinctive characteristic of the project is the new roof design. The firm AHM Architekten has enhanced the space with natural light, entering the renovated facilities through large windows and skylights.
A decisive factor in the project is the use of Fakro roof windows, in an overall context of comfort and high-quality interior design. The company’s technicians have developed a custom solution for this unique situation, based on the FYU-V U3 windows (height 206 cm).
