The Milano Smart Park Segantini project

The Milano Smart Park #Segantini (MSPS) project, at the former Sieroterapico between Naviglio Grande and Naviglio Pavese, presents a new intelligent kind of greenery in the city, a setting where nature, technology, social inclusion and culture combine to suggest new ways of utilizing green zones in the city.

The Associazione Parco Segantini, in charge of the project, has organized eight lines of action on which to move thanks to the co-financing of Fondazione Cariplo, raising funds and involving three long-term partners, namely Cooperativa Sociale Opera in Fiore, Centro Forestazione Urbana of Italia Nostra and the association ACIM, Amici dei Centri di Incontro di Milano per l’Alzheimer.

MSPS is an innovative experience, a model of collaboration with local residents, universities and institutions, bringing different generations together.

The activities include air quality and weather monitoring, an outdoor auditorium for concerts and other cultural events, a nature oasis with new plantings, a path of the 5 senses for greater awareness of the virtues of greenery in the city, green rooms as play areas for children, wi-fi devices for information, assistance and recognition of people with disabilities or Alzheimer’s disease, community gardens to learn more about the earth and its rhythms, and scientific monitoring to measure social impact.
