The project – created by Laboratorio Permanente, the studio founded by Nicola Russi and Angelica Sylos Labini – for Spaces Milano investigates innovative uses for spaces through precise analysis of the context. The Spaces facility occupies about 4000 m2 of a typical Milanese building from the postwar era.

The shared spaces provide opportunities for interaction and networking. The project reconciles the informal tone of such facilities with the aesthetic rigor of the city and its buildings.

Custom furnishings in American walnut, iconic Italian design pieces, fabrics with understated but warm colors, form an essential, rigorous atmosphere on the mezzanine level, with surfaces in concrete and stone, materials that link back to the Milanese tradition of rationalism.
