Maria Cristina Finucci's installation for One Ocean Foundation, a bloody wound of incandescent magma, was inaugurated in the Cortile d’Onore of the Università degli Studi of Milan.

Using about two tons of plastic caps contained in red mesh food bags and situated inside PoliMac gabions by Officine Maccaferri, Artist Maria Cristina Finucci drew four huge letters that make up the word Help, a cry of humanity in order to stop the environmental disaster of sea pollution.

This is the third time that Cristina Finucci launches her cry for help, after her Help performance in Rome, at the Roman Forum (in 2018), and on the island of Mozia, Sicily (in 2016).

“
Over the years, during which I have made installations in various parts of the world to denounce the huge presence of plastic in oceans, my project has been transformed and it is no longer limited to this pressing environmental issue, but puts the individual and life on the planet at the centre (Maria Cristina Finucci)"

At 10.30 p.m. the installation lit up like a blood red lava coming out of the ground. At the same time, you could hear the heartrending cry of the Earth and its inhabitants. Because plastic is only one side of a problem that has many facets: global warming, water pollution, inequality between peoples, hunger, wars.
