Out of 772 candidates, only 204 have been selected: ADI Design Index 2017 confirms the care lavished by the Permanent Design Observatory ADI since 2000, to find the very best Italian design products.

The exhibition for 2017, in Milan starting on 9 October and then in Rome from 26 October, includes products in all categories, from cabinets to lamps, vehicles to personal objects, materials to architectural components and graphic design, as well as the design of services and social design.

Among the 13 categories alongside the traditional Design for Living (29 products), there are Design of materials and technological systems (21), Research for enterprise (18), and a section on Theoretical-historical-critical research (17).
For the design of communications, there are sectors for graphic design and exhibition design, while as always a special category is set aside for the Targa Giovani: works made in universities and Italian schools by design students.
The products of the ADI Design Index 2017 are gathered in a catalogue (published by ADI and available online at the website of ADI) with graphic design by Marco Marangone, while the exhibition design has been done by the studio Gumdesign.
