This new exhibition at the space of Antonia Jannone updates the collaboration between Marco Zanuso Jr. and Gabriella Gabrini, an artist-artisan, student of De Poli “the enamel master” who worked for years with Gio Ponti on projects for furnishings, handles and decorative panels. The title is simple and ironic: bonsai refers to the small size of works “so reduced that we can no longer tell if they are tables or if they become something else, perhaps decorative object or small sculptures” (M. Zanuso Jr.). Combined in small groups, they become something else, an independent entity, like a deconstructed table with mobile tops that can be combined in different ways, at different heights. The exhibition held at the Milan Triennale and curated by Daniele Pisani, has the objective of showing the work of the Brazilian architect, one of the most important figures of contemporary architecture, winner of the Pritzker Prize for architecture in 2006. This year, with the start of construction, the Foundation in its headquarters at Palazzo su Rio Novo will present the definitive project for an area of over 9200 m2, in the heart of Mestre, a city considered a manifesto of the 1900s, the mainland portion of Venice, an exemplary case study due to its history linked to immigration and emigration, the pole of Marghera and one of the highest densities of business practice in Europe. At the heart of the architectural design, the comfort and ecosustainability of the buildings, earmarks of the work of the studio Sauerbruch Hutton.
