Villa Li Chiani

A villa immerses in the olive groves of the Serre in Salento, where charm and sustainability are made possible by the contemporary reinterpretation of the rural tradition of Apulia
Data Pubblicazione: 28 August 2017

IChiani – Charming & Sustainable Holidays at Gagliano del Capo, a few kilometers from Santa Maria di Leuca, Lecce, is not a mere vacation residence with a modern design, but the first construction in Salento based on the values and principles of sustainable tourism, leading to CasaClima Gold certification, also thanks to the application of Xenergy, the innovative range of products for thermal insulation by Dow.

First built at the start of the 1800s, Villa Li Chiani was part of a major restyling in 2017, conducted by the architect Gianfranco Marino, to create a light work of architecture with modern design that is still in line with the local tradition. The emphasis on energy regeneration makes the facility totally independent from fossil energy sources, as certified by the agency CasaClima.

The application of the Xenergy™ boards by Dow has been fundamental to achieve the objectives of thermal insulation and energy efficiency set for this project.

Rural architecture reinterpreted

Data Pubblicazione: 23 August 2017

The studio Lenzi + Baglini Architetti has coordinated the refurbishing of a striking farmhouse dating back to the 1500s, on the crest of a splendid hill in the heart of Sienese Chianti, facing vineyards and forests.

The key of the architectural and interior design was to reconcile contemporary needs with existing vernacular elements, making a residential environment that fully respects the local tradition.

Organized on two levels that follow the shape of the crest, the house develops around a double volume connected by a modern cantilevered staircase that is the hinge between the daytime functions, on the first level, and the nighttime zone on the lower level.

The evocative tower with a square plan, the ‘heart’ of the private space of the house, connects the master bedroom on the lower floor with the living area and private study under the roof, with an elegant spiral staircase with two ramps in reinforced concrete, made by Rizzi.
