All ready for Homi

From 15th to 18th September in Rho Fiera Milano, the eighth Lifestyle Trade Fair
Data Pubblicazione: 28 July 2017

Habits, tastes, trends, in a word, “lifestyles”: art of living is the idea at the heart of the eighth HOMI, that will take place from 15th to 18th September 2017 in Milan Exhibition Grounds, the trade fair that shows how fashion has influenced our daily lives over time, a magnifying glass on the new trends that characterize home furnishings and personal items.

A new and appealing layout provides a full experience of the trade fair, through an exhibiting formula that this year too proposes areas devoted to experimentation and focuses on increasingly more widespread trends and habits: Living Habits, Fragrances&Personal Care, Gift&Events, Kid&Style, Hobby&Work, Wellness&Beauty, Fashion&Jewels, Garden&Outdoor, Home Textiles, Concept Lab.

Furnishing objects reflect people’s personality and aesthetic taste: from tea cup sets to kettles, from candles to tableware, from textile items to wall decorations, furnishings tell something about your personal taste and express a style. Customizing home spaces means making them “unique”, surrounding yourself with things you get attached to over time, associated with the memory of a special moment.

Technology plays a fundamental role in our daily lives and is always present in our homes and the objects that surround us, a reality that follows the trend of being “smart” both at home and outside and of sharing the space of our intimacy through social networks: that’s where HOMI Smart originates, an experimental format created in co-operation with IDLAB, an opportunity to exhibit concrete examples of the ever closer relationship between design and technology, with beauty experienced through objects and shared through social networks.

The Lifestyles Trade Fair also provides an occasion to discover the new frontiers of design, emerging designers and companies that rely on high quality artistic craftsmanship. In September this offer will be enhanced by two special areas. In the first one, WGSN, a leading company at an international level in market analyses and surveys, will present the new industry trends, while in the second one, the POLIdesign of Milan will make a focus on new materials and on colour.

New young emerging artists and designers are the target of HOMI Maker Design Award (on the initiative of HOMI in co-operation with Artex and with the sponsorship of CNA and Confartigianato, this is a contest for young under-35-years-old self-producing craftsmen and/or creators) and Design Competition, an important initiative promoted by the Lombardy Region, in co-operation with Unioncamere Lombardia and ADI, Associazione per il Disegno Industriale (Association for Industrial Design), that gives them the possibility of exchanging with the market and experimenting by designing new objects for the home and personal items.

Design, arts and crafts, research and tradition combine perfectly well in initiatives such as La Magnifica Forma, an event devoted to the rediscovery of a unique Italian craft and cultural heritage whose prestige is well-known and appreciated worldwide.

Other initiatives include:

HOMI Asia Design devoted to objects and cultures of the largest continent worldwide

La pelle della moda: fashion of the future in a timeless material, leather

DDD: the excellencies of international design

La casa sull’acqua: Lego Build the Change & Polo Territoriale di Lecco

HOMIFood: agrifood industry and design

#Socialgifts: extraordinary gifts and where you can find them

#HOMIStaging: First Italian Festival of Home Staging

Many workshops, conferences, research laboratories and talk shows will take place in every area of HOMI. They will provide visitors and industry professionals an occasion for training, meeting and exchanging ideas and opinions.

Sicily, once a “land of conquest”… now conquers the design market

Furnishings are in second place among online purchases, according to data for 2017 gathered by the observatories of Politecnico di Milano and Netcomm. Sicily has achieved success in the sector of luxury and design furniture, thanks to the leadership of three local companies in the area of online sales, and the unique business model launched by TRJ. A confirmed trend
Data Pubblicazione: 4 July 2017

Three Sicilian online dealers of designer furnishings have quickly conquered, through a constant focus on quality, the top ranks of search engines, reporting a very high level of sales.

The online market is growing fast thanks to a cultural shift among consumers, but it demands great expertise and managerial capacities, especially in the complex phase of product delivery – of complicated, delicate and costly objects – and in the area of regulations and taxation, with respect to each and every country to which goods are shipped.

Milia Living Home, Scillufo Arredamenti and Mohd – Mollura Home Design are the three Sicilian firms that stand out, combining organizational capacity with control of all these various aspects, and racking up remarkable sales results in a short period of time. They are recognized leaders in the sector on a European level, also thanks to the portfolio of partner brands and the collections they are able to offer.

Starting from western Sicily, Milia Living Home is a historic furniture store located in Favara (AG), which since 1988 has collaborated with the finest design companies on a worldwide level. MiliaShop.com is the online sales portal, which reports about 10,000 individual views per day. Milia, in the pleasant town of Favara, has created synergies with the Farm Cultural Park, the first tourism park to contain an Independent Cultural Center built in Sicily, which welcomes professionals from all over the world in the field of architecture, design and contemporary art on a weekly basis. Milia’s installation at the entrance to the Zighi Zaghi store was recently honored by The Plan, and Milia Living Home is now one of the 10 Top Clients of B&B Italia in the world.

Passing to the capital, we find another example of an online dealership that is gaining exceptional results. Deplain.com is the online shop of Scillufo Arredamenti, a familiar name in Palermo thanks to its very central and elegant store. Again in this case, the intuition of the second generation has led to an approach to the online market, in a winning move that has brought big numbers in terms of views and sales. Scillufo Arredamenti is one of the 10 Top Clients of Cassina in the world.

Heading east, Mohd represents a story of excellence and quality that begins in 1944, in Messina, in the crafts workshop of the Mollura family. With about 70 years of experience, Mohd – Mollura Home Design is now positioned among the top dealers in the design furnishings market, with three stores and one online shop that averages 15,000 individual views per day, as a place where people find inspiration and the best products with which to furnish their homes and offices.

The firm has recently been covered by Pambianco.com – the information portal of the consulting company of the same name in the field of fashion, luxury and – as a successful case history.

Kartell has created a version of the famous Masters chair in a limited Pink edition, as a world exclusive for distribution by Mollura. Finally, today Mollura is one of the 10 Top Clients of Poltrona Frau worldwide.

The binder, engine and amplifier in Sicily is undoubtedly the business model developed by TRJ. For over 25 years the company founded by the entrepreneur Massimiliano Troja has operated in the sector of luxury furnishings and lighting, as an exclusive agent for the most important leading brands in the world of design, innovation and respect for the environment: Alias, Artemide, Cappellini, Cassina, Citterio Office, Kartell, Lago, La Cividina, Rimadesio and Valcucine.

TRJ – which presently operates in Sicily, Malta and the UAE – stands out in its sector for having created a prestigious platform of brands, with a unique level and language, making it the main resource of dealers in the territory, and providing design consulting services for architects.

The TRJ team is composed of architects and lighting designers who assist architecture firms in their interior design projects, while acting as sales managers and guaranteeing consulting and training for partner dealers.

A consultant for brands and professionals, TRJ is a unique model on the international design scene; with turnover of more than 15 million euros, it is one of the market leaders on a European level.

QFort: strength is our job

For those who want style and security at the highest levels for their homes, the answer is QFort, for strong, beautiful and innovative window and door frames. Success is guaranteed
Data Pubblicazione: 13 June 2017

Safe, secure, to insulate and protect any type of space, in perfect tune with its decor. Functional, designed to stand up to all climate conditions, they are the first details that catch the eye in the home. These are the main characteristics of QFort frames, created for those who appreciate good looks and insist on the highest functional quality. Extremely reliable, QFort frames are meeting with well-deserved success across the nation: they are coveted for their accent on innovation and sustainability, and their passion for beauty. The distinctive characteristics of a brand that always focuses on quality, practicality and aesthetics in its products, for both doors and windows.

QFort has developed two window models that provide high technical performance while complying with multiple ecological needs, through inimitable design and clean lines: the Stars series and the Discreet series, with different approaches but identical in terms of quality and performance.

Stars is a series of windows created to combine respect for the environment with high levels of acoustic and thermal insulation. It includes 4Stars, 5Stars, 6Stars and 7Stars, the latest creation, made with an Aluplast section with 7 chambers in PVC and boasting the smallest frame/joint presently offered on the market. The most important feature is that of the many chambers of the frame and the panel, 7 in number. The vanishing hinges are the result of an elegant and innovative design, together with the fine selection of compatible handles and a series of standard colors to which it is possible to add other shades, including wood tones and RAL colors.

Discreet, on the other hand, is a window designed for specific needs, as the result of a positive partnership between technology and functional quality: inside the window there is a Venetian blind made with the ScreenLine® system, a registered trademark of Pellini, also utilized by QFort. Discreet is the window for those who prefer to avoid fabric curtains or are allergic to dust; for clients in search of a hyper-modern mood it is the most suitable solution for carefree living, requiring no maintenance because the Venetian blind never gets dirty and cannot bend, since it is inside a hermetically sealed chamber. The blind moves manually or electrically thanks to magnetic controls made with the potential of lasting virtually forever (they demagnetize by only 2% every 100 years).

The quality that improves quality of life is known as QFort.
