The project has been presented for the area of the former Centrale del latte, for the new facilities of SDA Bocconi, a sports center and a residence. Acampus in Milan, transparent, green, open to the city: green areas for a total of 21,500 m2 and a sports center with the first indoor Olympic pool in the city, all open for use by the public. Designed by the Studio SANAAof Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa, for Bocconi University the project represents an investment of 130 million euros. The campus has been designed for the context and on the scale of the city, the Japanese architects explained, after winning an international invitational competition in 2012. The project is a modern reinterpretation of the porticoes and cloisters of the city’s architecture, creating a series of internal green courtyards that are connected and bordered by buildings or by a canopy. These cells touch each other to permit easy passage between the buildings and across the park. The tower of the residence, like others in Milan, saves land area that can thus be set aside for more greenery.
