On the occasion of the 18th Barcelona Design Week 2023, Roca presented the The Nutura installation, previewed at the FuoriSalone of INTERNI 2023 and designed by Benedetta Tagliabue – EMBT Architects exclusively for the company.
The inauguration took place at the Roca Barcelona Gallery, which hosted the official opening ceremony of the 18th edition of the event, which was attended by numerous personalities from the design, architecture and interior design.
“It is an honor for Roca to participate in yet another edition of the Barcelona Design Week, with which we share thevocation of reflecting on the role of designin people's lives, the firm commitment to a more sustainable future and, naturally, the passion for Barcelona as the world capital of design", said Marc Viardot, Corporate Marketing and Design Director Roca Group.
In particular, this year's edition of the Barcelona Design Week highlights the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, through an innovative global initiative dedicated to the promotion of SDG number 18: “Design for Human Future”, which also becomes the motto of the event.
During the inauguration of the Barcelona Design Week, participants had the opportunity to attend the speech “A conversation beyond design. Nutura, from Milan to Barcelona", in which Benedetta Tagliabue, who designed the installation, and the curator of the Barcelona Design Week, Alessandro Manetti, talked about the creative process of Nutura, its preview at the FuoriSalone in Milan and its transposition and adaptation for the Galleria Roca Barcelona.
Nutura was born as a multisensory landscape inspired by the light and textures of the Mediterranean, which pays homage to 20th century Barcelona architecture.
“As a tribute to the artists who defined a city style, Nutura arrives today in its natural home: Barcelona. I invite all the people of Barcelona to come to the Roca Barcelona Gallery to calmly discover a work with which we have tried to convey peace and rest", said Benedetta Tagliabue.
Following the official inauguration, the Roca Barcelona Gallery also hosted other activities part of the program of the Barcelona Design Week, including:
• “Industrial property resulting from the circular economy. The case of packaging” (19 October), a day with conferences and round tables on the role of packaging in the circular economy.
