The good city: for responsible and generous architecture
The Café della Stampa di Interni is scheduled for September 24 at 3 pm at Mall 29/30.
The conversation between Alfonso Femia and Patrizia Catalano intends to highlight how a collective awareness of the value of water, in its meaning of “supreme good”, can lead to reviewing our values (even those that we believe to be indispensable) and to imagine new spaces and projects for a city on a scale for all.
Alfonso Femia, architect Founder of Atelier(s) Alfonso Femia AF517 with offices in Genoa, Milan and Paris, is in fact dedicating a good part of his design and philosophical work to water and the architecture of Mediterranean cities.
Femia says: “In the endless literature that travels on Instagram, we read that a thirteen-year-old Indian, having learned of the enormous quantity of water that is used for the production of denim, decided to take his old pants, unstitch them and then make a canvas sleeping bag to give to the homeless.
The word of mouth among family and friends meant that the boy’s outburst of indignation and generosity gave birth to a start up that provides denim sleeping bags to the poor who sleep on the streets in the young man’s city of residence.
After all, it is well known that in India there are many people who live on the streets (and unfortunately the phenomenon is also increasing in the West). Water is a good that should be a right for everyone but, as we all know, is often wasted in favor of the well-being of a small part of the population and is scarce in many countries around the world”.
All the events of the Café della Stampa are also available in live streaming on the Cersaie website and on those of the individual publishing houses.
