In the small town in inland Liguria, province of Savona, the sixth edition of Altare Vetro Design and Altare Vetro Arte, initiatives created by Mariateresa Chirico and Enzo L’Acqua and promoted by ISVAV – the Institute for the Study of Glass and the Art of Glassmaking.
The dual event makes the Museo dell’Arte Vetraria di Altare, with its prestigious collection, the point of encounter and dialogue for lovers of the ancient art of glassmaking – designers, artists, master craftsmen, but also curious visitors – as the town of Altare focuses on its great heritage of skill and know-how.
The two events share the presence of two female figures: the Savona-based architect Nicoletta Negro for Altare Vetro Design, and the Argentine artist Miriam Di Fiore for Altare Vetro Arte. This ‘gender choice’ is connected with the event W. Women in Italian Design, the ninth edition of the Design Museum of the Milan Triennale, organized in coordination with the 21st Milan Triennale.
Nicoletta Negro likes to complete her interior design projects with unique, custom-designed items, useful objects not created for industrial production.
Miriam Di Fiore makes brilliant use of fused glass, creating artworks and objects in which the world of nature is conveyed in subtle, very delicate signs.
