In collaboration with Valerio Cataldi, a journalist who has focused for years on migrants, and Tareke Brhane, a cultural mediator and refugee residing in Italy, both founders of Comitato 3 Ottobre, Apnea films and photographs the objects of victims of shipwrecks in the sea of the Strait of Sicily and around Lampedusa.
In Apnea (Fondazione 107) three different settings offer different levels of interaction. The visit begins with an exhibition of photographs and videos that isolate and decontextualize the objects. Then a space with a wraparound interactive projection triggers an immersive experience of the depths of the sea. The movement of the visitor changes the environment in real time. Finally, visitors have an experience of immersion in the sea at Lampedusa, thanks to a 360-degree video.
