Arte Fiera reaches its 41st edition in an updated version, under the new direction of Angela Vettese, while confirming its identity as the most established Italian art fair.
The first new development is the graphic design by Andrea Lancellotti of Studio Lancellotti, with a focus on the multiple forms of nature, and the human ability to isolate and rethink them, accepting even their most disturbing aspects with mental flexibility.
The new layout for Arte Fiera 2017 is in two large pavilions at the Bologna fair, with 153 galleries showing works.
The sections: Main Section, for modern and contemporary art; Solo Show, for projects by individual artists; Nueva Vista, curated by Simone Frangi, with a small selection of new entries; Photography, curated by Angela Vettese; and the new Special Projects, curated by Chiara Vecchiarelli, which brings performance art to the fair, to MAMbo and the science museums of the city, along with a series of artist lectures, conferences and guided tours.
Also in 2017, Art City Bologna, organized in collaboration with the City of Bologna, enlivens museums and institutional spaces with events and exhibitions. Now in its fifth iteration, this program updates its formula with the new Art City Polis section, supported by Arte Fiera in coordination with Istituzione Bologna Musei.
The high point is Art City White Night, Saturday 28 January, with museums, galleries and stores open till midnight.
