The cultured painting of Pang Maokun – Florence, Palazzo Medici Riccardi – until 28 July 2018
Curated by Antonio Natali, coordinated by Xiuzhong Zhang, the exhibition is organized by China National Academy of Painting together with the Chinese Academy of Oil Painting and produced by Zhong Art International, with the collaboration of Accademia delle Arti del Disegno and the Accademia di Belle Arti of Florence.
Pang Maokun is one of the most famous painters on the Chinese contemporary scene, and presently the Rector of the Fine Arts Academy of Sichuan.
In Attualità del passato, Pang Maokun acts as a modern disciple of historic masters of western art, taking part in a past he has studied very closely. Taking his cue from the classics, he depicts famous figures, modifying the original with ironic intrusions.
Maokun also presents a series of portraits of young women in China.
