Balthazar Korab arrived in Florence in the first days of November 1966, just in time to experience the flood that struck the city, and to narrate it in a series of photographs that now, fifty years later, are shown in the exhibition “Balthazar Korab. I giorni dell’Alluvione” curated by John Comazzi, Christian Korab, Guido Cozzi and Massimo Borchi, in collaboration with the University of Minnesota.

Tethys Gallery presents 16 images, now owned – like the entire Korab archive – by the Library of Congress. Some were taken precisely on 4 November, when the water invaded the city. Others come from the months to follow, as Florence struggled to save its immense heritage.
