Fondazione Nicola Trussardi presents the first large solo show of Cyprien Gaillard for an Italian institution, curated by Massimiliano Gioni. The new project by the French artist will be seen in the military bakery of the Caserma XXIV Maggio, a fascinating gem of industrial architecture built in a neo-Romansque style in 1898 and abandoned in 2005 after having been used for over a century to produce bread for all the military barracks of Lombardy, and after having provided food for the whole city during World War II. Inside these spaces charged with memory, Cyprien Gaillard leads us through his evocative vision of the relics of our time: in a continuous crescendo of tensions and overlaps, videos, photographs, images and sounds create a path that alternates explosions and silences, devastation and contemplation.
