The exhibition Driftwood, or how we surfaced through currents, curated by Evelyn Simons, will be on view from 17 June to 22 July in Athens. The project includes 11 site-specific works by Larry Achiampong, Meriç Algün, James Bridle, Hera Büyüktaşçiyan, Jeremy Hutchison, Kernel, Chysanthi Koumianaki, Persefoni Myrtsou & Eva Giannakopoulou, Lara Ögel, Maria Papadimitriou and Lloyd Corporation.
Organized by the Belgian curator Evelyn Simons (1989) with project coordination by Ilektra Kalaitzaki, the show explores the movements of peoples, the circulation of capital and the ways these constant flows are organized, systematized, controlled and challenged.
Artists from different backgrounds, using various expressive languages, approach these themes in a series of individual projects that form an itinerary through the streets of the Exarcheia district in Athens.
