From 7 to 9 October 2022, Edit, the fair dedicated to editorial design animates and promotes the Neapolitan territory, proposes international projects - and contaminations - with a typically Mediterranean welcoming spirit

From 7 to 9 October 2022 (6 October press preview and opening) back Edit Napoli, consolidated and unmissable Neapolitan appointment - but increasingly international - with the fair dedicated to editorial and author design.

The event, which is grafted into the most true and truthful (never stereotyped) city fabric, to support an accurate design concept, founded on territoriality, sustainability and quality in spite of quantity, it resumes to animate the spaces of the Monumental Complex of San Domenico Maggiore and several other symbolic places of culture Neapolitan.

Hand-picked independent designers, authors and publishers

Founded in 2019 by Emilia Petruccelli and Domitilla Dardi, Edit Napoli continues to welcome and support independent designers, carefully selected authors and publishers, creatives and producers (open call still active https://editnapoli.com/application-form), who are not only exhibitors but also eligible winners of the prize which is awarded every year to the best unpublished products presented.

The jury - quest year composed by David Alhadeff, Giuliano Andrea Dell'Uva, Amélie Du Passage, Patricia Urquiola and Alessandro Valenti - will identify the projects that best embody the values ​​of intelligent design and deep respect for cultural heritage at a well-balanced price.

The different realities that will participate

Among the exhibitors, the winners of Edit Napoli 2021, who have had and will still have the opportunity to exhibit at Brera Pavilion at FuoriSalone in Milan, together with some names linked to the event such as Very Simple Kitchen, this year present together with La Pietra Compattata, Margherita Rui with the new brand Dante Negro and Forma&Cemento, as well as new companies and designers including a ntoniolupi, Nodus Rug, Bolzan Letti, Galapagos, Atlas project, No Smoking the Future and a Dutch representation thanks to the call Young Dutch Titans.

The close link between Edit and local traditions

The special projects proposed every year by Edit bring together people and places, artists and companies (even from different fields), local realities, national and international: they create collaborations and contaminations, as well as weave a network of support and promotion, under the banner of research and meticulous care and, last but not least, a whispered aesthetic grace that makes imperfection its creative flash full of references as cultured as it is popular.

An example is the project of a wine tasting bar developed by Astrid Luglio after a residency in the Feudi di San Gregorio winery, which recently became B Corp.

Other special projects

Another special project is the one involving the Design Lab of the San Patrignano community. The students of the Design Lab, under the guidance of the artist Agostino Iacurci, will be involved in setting up the entrance to the Monumental Complex of San Domenico Maggiore.

The students of the Academy of Design and Visual Arts Abadir of Catania will take care of the spaces of the Seminar, the Edit section dedicated to exhibitors under 30 and to companies established no more than three years ago.

Naples and Beirut, a Mediterranean collaboration

As part of Edit Cult, a widespread program of exhibitions dedicated to the culture of design in some of the most representative places in Naples, proposes House of Today , non-profit organization born with the mission of identifying, cultivating, guiding, curating, showing and connecting Lebanese designers with design experts.

This year's protagonist will be Rumi Dalle who, at Palazzo Venezia , will represent Lebanon in Italy and that we see in the photos in this article while visiting the city, its artisans, its traditions, its magic.

Edit Cult: Piet Hein Eek and Michele De Lucchi

Edit Cult also proposes a retrospective in the Foundation Made in Cloister dedicated to Dutch designers linked to the values ​​of sustainability. It will be curated by Piet Hein Eek, known for his creations made by handcrafting with recycled materials. 

Michele De Lucchi will instead present his Legni Cuciti, sculptures that tell the fascination of the architect/artist for the imperfection of the handmade. On display, inside the church museum of Santa Luciella, five unpublished pieces from the series, created ad hoc for Edit Napoli.

Creative flashes - hybrids - by Made in Edit

Virtuous collaborations and special projects that become real replicable lines. This is Made in Edit which will present again the collection revitalizing the ancient art of Hybrida porcelain signed by Patricia Urquiola with the students of Istituto Caselli Real Fabbrica di Capodimonte.

Naples, Venice and Belgium

Edit Naples also seals a twinning with VID | Venice Innovation Design, the appointment dedicated to sustainability dedicated to the urban regeneration process underway on the ' island of San Servolo in Laguna.

Finally, thanks to the collaboration with the government agency WBDM (Wallonie Bruxelles Design Mode) and with Belgium is Design, the film will be presented documentary The Object Becomes.
