The 1st International Competition organized by Unopiù with the design schools IED, La Sapienza, ESAG and HFBKhas been announced, on innovative uses for outdoor furniture, reinterpreted in an urban perspective. The goal is to discover the talent of young designers while looking for new approaches to outdoor furnishings, possibly with innovative, recycled and ecocompatible materials; to develop projects for outdoor decor for easy use, easy life – seating, tables, cots, sofas, benches – that can be utilized as urban furnishings, but also in a private context, in harmony with natural settings. Thestudents are asked to operated with an open mind, conserving a spirit of creativity and innovation, on projects that always take certain key factors into account: Abandoned places to bring people together – Identity – Landmarks – Memory of the place.The projects and winners will be presented in Milan at the Triennale in 2012, during the Salone del Mobile.
