Until 2 August, on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, visitors can see the exhibition “Finnish glass in the Bischofberger collection” curated by Kaisa Koivisto and Pekka Korvenmaa.

The exhibition offers a unique chance to see some rare masterpieces close up, often one-of-a-kind pieces collected over the last 40 years by Christina and Bruno Bischofberger.

Over 300 works in glass, by outstanding protagonists of Finnish design in the 20th century: visionary artists and designers who have made the history of Iittala and have become symbols of Scandinavian design in the world: Aino and Alvar Aalto, Kaj Franck, Tapio Wirkkala, Oiva Toikka, Göran Hongell, Timo Sarpaneva, Arttu Brummer and Gunnel Nyman.

The icons of Iittala recently appeared in the museum shops of the most prestigious Venetian cultural institutions, from the Peggy Guggenheim Foundation (inside the museum and in the external store) to the bookshop of the Biennale di Venezia.
