An exhibition curated by Roberta Tenconi that contains 14 works made by Rosa Barba from 2009 to the present, including 35mm and 16mm films, kinetic sculptures and site-specific projects.
The exhibition From Source to Poem to Rhythm to Reader, set up in the spaces of the Shed of Pirelli HangarBicocca, creates a dialogue between the works and the industrial facility itself.
The five films have never been shown in Italy, and include The Empirical Effect (2009) – an investigation of the landscape of Mt. Vesuvius as a field of natural, mental and cultural forces – and the two latest works of the artist: Enigmatic Whisper (2017), shot in the studio of the artist Alexander Calder, and From Source to Poem (2016), an allegory of time and history made in the AV conservation center of the Library of Congress at Culpeper, Virginia, the world’s largest multimedia archive.
