Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksashave created, in Montpellier, France, a new work: the Georges-Frêche high school for the training of hospitality professionals. The complex (24,000 m2)offers training in hotel management, food services and tourism services, and is composed of two buildings(for 1000 studenti), connected by 5 walkways that cross the tree-lined central courtyard; a dorm for students; lodgings for faculty; a gymnasium; an outdoor track and field facility. The two buildings contain a multipurpose hall, an exhibition space, offices, classrooms and three restaurants open to the public. Studio Fuksas has also done the interior design of the spaces open to the public. An “experimental” project, due to the aluminium facades with a triangular geometry and the construction of the reinforced concrete structure, which both adapt to the particular curved, fluid forms of the complex. The Région Languedoc-Roussillon has commissioned Matali Crassetto contribute a project in the context of the "artistic 1%" rule applied in France for new public works.
