Gio Ponti e Cantù. 1923-1973. Design e artigianato del mobile dalla Rinascente alla Selettiva is the exhibition curated by Tiziano Casartelli, hosted by the Permanente Mobili of Cantù, on the work of Gio Ponti, Franco Albini and Paolo Buffa.
Through a series of documents, photographs and periodicals, the show reconstructs the relationship of collaboration of Gio Ponti, Franco Albini, Tomaso Buzzi, Michele Marelli, Emilio Lancia, Paolo Buffa, Luigi Daneri with some of the most outstanding companies in Cantù, from the 1920s until the period after World War II.
It also investigates the role played by Gio Ponti from 1954 to 1959 in the birth and success of the Selettiva del Mobile.
A book with the same title will also be published, edited by Tiziano Casartelli for Edizioni Cantorium.
