In Paris, the sixth edition of Italian Design Day (IDD) is held on March 24, the opening day of Maison & amp; Objet, the fair dedicated to design and decoration.
Making IDD2022 coincide with Maison & amp; Objet - a decision desired by the Embassy of Italy in France, by the Consulate General of Italy in Paris and by Ice-Agenzia - makes a lot of sense for the purpose of promoting the Italian design system.
In fact, at Maison & amp; Objet 2022 there will be an Italian national pavilion, with about 150 companies, under the aegis of ICE-Agenzia. And, in the conference space of the fair, a talk on the theme of sustainability in fashion and design will be hosted with Andrea Rosso , Sustainability Ambassador of Diesel, a brand of the OTB group, and Roddy Clarke, journalist expert in design and signature of the Financial Times. The debate will be held between 16 and 17 on March 24, will begin with official greetings by the Italian Embassy in Paris and will be available on the Maison & amp; Objet Academy website starting from May at this link .
The recovery of Italian exports and the challenge of sustainability
Talking about design is increasingly necessary today. In fact, in the post-pandemic era, the world of design and the companies that produce it must face new challenges linked to major global and local issues: the ecological transition, new lifestyles and work, social, cultural and geo-politics of contemporary times.
In this complex framework, the support of the Italian institutions for the export of the sector has never stopped. And, thanks to resilience and the ability to adapt and recover, the Italian exports of the furniture sector managed to achieve what seemed a dream in 2020: to exceed 2019 in terms of sales and turnover in 2021. The entire sector in fact, it registered a + 22.3%, with over one and a half billion in turnover (a figure higher even than in the pre-pandemic).
Events not to be missed
After the Italian Design Day, the appointment to be made is the one with the Salone del Mobile in Milan (7 to 12 June 2022).
The 2022 edition will be full of novelties and will focus on the theme of sustainability, becoming the stage for the progress made in this area by creatives, designers and companies.
