What we saw at the exhibition Fashion is Female: Lights on Italian Design as Cultural Legacy, produced on the occasion of the inauguration of the brand new Italian Cultural Institute in Miami

The activities related to the Italian Design Day (whose canonical date was March 9, 2023) will continue until September and, depending on the choices of the individual offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs around the world, they will take the form of meetings, exhibitions and workshops.

In this regard, it is worth noting the exhibition Fashion is Female: Lights on Italian Design as Cultural Legacy which ended on May 1st in Miami produced on the occasion of the inauguration of the brand new Italian Cultural Institute space strongly desired by the Consul General Cristiano Musillo.

The exhibition wanted to be a homage to eight Italian stylists who have contributed to consolidating Italy's role in the fashion world.

Alongside the creations of Elsa Schiaparelli, Sorelle Fontana, Fernanda Gattinoni, Mila Schön, Krizia, Lella Curiel, Laura Biagiotti and Miuccia Prada, the exhibition presented light installations and iconic objects by companies that have made the history of Italian industrial design: Artemide, Baleri Italia, Flos, Foscarini, Kartell.

"Fashion is Female", declared the Consul General Cristiano Musillo, “placed the accent on the extraordinary creative and entrepreneurial spirit of some women who symbolize Italian fashion, whose cultural heritage continues to be appreciated in the United States and throughout the world".

Inaugurated by the Ambassador of Italy to the United States, Mariangela Zappia, the exhibition was born from the collaboration with Istituto Marangoni Miami and Lanzavecchia + Wai – who conceived and curated the exhibition – Salone del Mobile Milano, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana and Italian Trade Agency.
