Events in the showroom, a guide and a communication system that connects them in a path, a lectio magistralis by the director Gilda Bojardi at the Italian Consulate General and a round table with 5 architects and 5 entrepreneurs: INTERNI is back in the Big Apple with BIG ITALY New York

Once again INTERNI is back to New York for Design Week.

It did so by curating and creating a circuit and a guide – called Big Italy - to help the public of Italian design enthusiasts to orient themselves in the cultural and product offering offered by the Bel Paese brands active in the Big Apple and how ICFF media partner for the Nomad Design Night and NYCxDesign Festival for the whole design week.

In addition to BIG ITALY, this is the name of the route, communicated through flags positioned at the entrances to the showrooms and described in the May issue of the magazine (available in all locations - in English in the new graphic design), INTERNI contributed to the cultural debate of New York Design Week with a lectio magistralis held by the director Gilda Bojardi (and ambassador of the Italian Design Day) at the Consulate of Italy in New York entitled "Big Italy in New York: Manufacturing Value, inclusiveness, innovation and sustainability".

The director's speech was followed by a talk moderated by Carlo Biasia (Special Projects Architect of the INTERNI editorial team) and introduced by the interventions of Fabrizio Di Michele, Italian General Consul in New York and Marva Griffin Wilshire, Ambassador of the Salone del Mobile.Milano in which 5 architects and 5 entrepreneurs discussed the theme anticipated by the lectio: the value of manufacturing in a optics of inclusiveness, innovation and sustainability.

The discussion was built on 5 key concepts, expressions of the founding themes of contemporary design culture and discussed by the architects and entrepreneurs who were invited to speak: Dialogue, Tailor-made, Work culture, Innovation and value translation, From product to project and vice versa.

The five concepts were explored in depth by the guests:

  • Dialogue, with contributions from Carlotta De Bevilacqua CEO of Artemide and Kai-Uwe Bergmann from Bjarke Ingels Group
  • Taylor made, with the contribution of the architects Matteo Milani of Pei Cobb Freed & Partners and the CEO of Poltrona Frau Nicola Coropulis
  • Work culture, with the contribution of Michael Gabellini of Gabellini Sheppard Associates and Laura Anzani, President and CEO Poliform USA
  • Innovation and translation of value: with the contribution of Giulio Cappellini, architect, designer and entrepreneur and Stefano Giussani of Lissoni Architecture New York
  • From the product to the project and vice versa: with the contribution of Francesco Farina, CEO B&B Italia USA and Francesca Portesine of SOM – Skidmore, Owings & Merrill

As further communication support for INTERNI's initiatives, the Rizzoli bookshop in New York dedicated a window to the 70th anniversary of INTERNI, creating a special display with the story of the 70 years of the magazineand displaying - in addition to the May issue of the magazine - also the symbolic flags of the FuoriSalone.
