For the occasion, Gillo Dorfles, an artist, art critic, intellectual and sociologist of the arts, has designed the new illy Art Collection. The artist from Trieste has worked on some of his decorative designs for fabrics, done on paper from 1937 to 1940 with the historic egg tempera technique of the great masters of the 1400s.
Dorfles has gone back to these designs, playing with the repetition of certain graphic elements and the reinterpretation of archetypes. For the illy Art Collection, the forms and colors of the imaginary that continues to set the poetics of Dorfles apart transform a coffee break into a complete aesthetic experience that restores the proper measure to our way of being in the world.
The collaboration between the artist and illycaffè is based on profound shared values and visions. A proximity that is confirmed not only in the native city of Trieste, but also and above all in a central European perspective.
While Gillo Dorfles works on outstanding expressive forms and the future of the arts, illycaffè has always courageously supported emerging talents, embracing the hypotheses of contemporary art as its preferred territory of research.
