Manifesta, the European nomadic biennial of contemporary art and culture, takes place in Palermo this time, from 16 June to 4 November 2018, with exhibitions, installations, performances and urban actions in iconic locations: Teatro Garibaldi, Orto Botanico, Piazza Magione, Chiesa dei SS. Euno e Giuliano, Palazzo Butera, the Zen district, Pizzo Sella, Palazzo Forcella De Seta, Palazzo Ajutamicristo and Palazzo Costantino.

Among the names in the Manifesta 12 program: the Brazilian artist Maria Thereza Alves with an installation at Palazzo Butera on the floral syncretism of Sicily, the Nigerian performance art pioneer Jelili Atiku, French landscape designer Gilles Clément (who has created an urban garden in the Zen district in collaboration with the studio Coloco), the London-based collective Cooking Sections, the Irish artist John Gerrard with works at Palazzo Ajutamicristo and Palazzo Forcella De Seta, the Swiss artist Uriel Orlow with a video installation at Palazzo Butera, Khalil Rabah who creates a market of objects and sculptures at the Botanical Garden, the Belgian architectural collective Rotor with an urban intervention in the area of Pizzo Sella, north of Palermo, Marinella Senatore with an urban procession on 16 June, Giorgio Vasta, a writer from Palermo, with the project City Crypts, a digital app to narrate the city.
