Milan is preparing to welcome the first edition of Milano Graphic Festival, postponed by a month due to health restrictions from Covid-19

From 25 to 27 March the first edition of the Milan Graphic Festival arrives in Milan, a widespread event completely dedicated to graphic art and visual communication.

Curated by Francesco Dondina, Milano Graphic Festival is a 'system project' conceived by SIGNS and h+ that places graphic design at the center, understood as an increasingly present expressive form in everyday life.

To announce the event, recently appeared in via Varesina 162 - Certosa District a colorful mural entitled "When the city changes you look at its colors". The work, which quickly became a symbol of regeneration and creativity, is over 57 meters long and was created on a design by the graphic studio CamuffoLab.

The city fit for festival

Milano Graphic Festival takes place over three days and a multitude of (well-selected) locations in the city. To act as a glue there are two main hub which are also the reference points in the area in terms of innovation and experimentation: BASE Milano and Certosa Graphic Village, each with a specific role.

The most important city institutions will host the busy calendar of exhibitions, workshops, talks, lectures, studio visits and installations. Among these: ADI Design Museum Compasso d'Oro, Triennale Milano, Castello Sforzesco, Humanitarian Society, MUBA - Milan Children's Museum, Casa degli Artisti.

In the spaces of BASE Milano, SIGNS - the permanent observatory on visual design involving over 100 Italian designers and graphic studios - will present the show SIGNS II. Contemporary Italian Graphics , second chapter of the homonymous exhibition held at the former Ansaldo at the end of 2016, which intends to show how the state of graphics and design of Italian communication is in excellent health, in the wake of tradition but always capable of renewing itself and dealing with the international scene.

The Certosa Graphic Village will instead be a temporary performance space of 3,000 square meters dedicated to contemporary creativity where, with the Generation YZ exhibition, designers under 30 will be able to work on a special urban graphics project. Here the first general assembly of the Italian visual design schools will be held by Franco Achilli and some exhibitions on the masters of visual design.

Milano Graphic Festival is open to everyone, not just experts and professionals in the sector. The large expected audience, from the curious visitor to the enthusiast, will be able to immerse themselves in a stimulating atmosphere guided, always, by exchange, discussion and discovery about the world of visual communication.

In particular, the Certosa Graphic Village will be the place dedicated to meetings, experiences and research: talks with Italian and international designers, project rooms, thematic lectures, performances and workshops will be dedicated to professionals, students and people of all ages who love visual design.
