New Generations is back in Milan with New Farms for EXPO, an international multidisciplinary project organized in collaboration with the Dutch Embassy in Rome and the Dutch Consulate General in Milan.

The project launched in Milan from 24 to 30 June, little more than a month after the opening of EXPO 2015, involves architects, professionals and local administrators, together with agronomists, economists and urbanists, with the goal of identifying tools and strategies of reuse of abandoned buildings scattered around contemporary cities.

The research focuses on the reactivation of farmhouses located in the Milan territory, and in particular on those owned by the city. The reuse of public heritage and its involvement in long-term urban processes become, thanks to the project, the fundamental element of social, cultural and new business initiatives.

The activities take place at two locations: a one-week workshop at Cascina Corte San Giacomo, and three side events at the headquarters of the Architects Association, Via Solferino 17.

The tutors of the workshop are: Jan Jongert (SuperUse Studios, NL), Isabella Inti (Politecnico di Milano, IT), Inge Vleemingh (Wageningen UR, NL), Thomas Dieben (KRFT, NL), Dario Musolino and Francesca Canti (CERTeT – Università Bocconi, IT), Giulia Pesaro (Cooperate, DAStU – Politecnico di Milano, IT), Michiel Van Iersel (Non-Fiction/Failed Architecture, NL); Valentina Paruzzi (Curlitude, IT).
