The conclusion in Venice of the 4th edition of the exhibition-market of self-produced and short-run design, which offered international designers, artisans, fashion designers, artists and makers a chance to display and sell their works, without middlemen. The three main prizes went to: Georg Muehlmann(Open Design Italia prize), Lenneke Langenhuijsen(Ottagono prize), Kaustav Majumdar(Prezi prize). There were also two special prizes: for a designer under 35 Urge Design(Gian Piero Giovannini) assigned Moving’Up, promoted by GAi (the Association for the Circuit of Young Italian Artists) and for the Italians of Creazioni Zuri, Emmepi Design and Elisa Occhielliassigned the Open Design Italia Meets Berlin,promoted by the Italian Embassy in Berlin. Three special mentions went to the Italian designers Foroofficina, Madeindesign, N+1. Eighty selected Italian and international designers showed their design and fashion products at Open Design Italia.The wares reflected the trends and evolutions of self-production: modular elements, space-saver packaging, reuse of materials and readymades – finished objects transformed with respect to their usual functions.
