The project, divided into two parts, the Grand Theater with 1800 seats and an adjacent multifunctional hall with 400 seats, in Guangzhou, China, is by Zaha Hadid: no right angles, inclined walls and ceilings, with the form of the public circulation routes designed to make them converge at different points. The ‘dramatic’ effect of the interior design is truly spectacular. The niches in the walls, the perspective lines from the entrance area and the way the building opens are all features utilized to play with the perceptions of visitors with respect to the space. The interior design by Zaha Hadid is extremely complex. Every single project required custom solutions. HI-MACS®, the solid-surface material, thanks to its sculptural malleability, its respect for the environment and its excellent stability, is the ideal choice for the exceptional formal vocabulary of this architect.
