The International Ischia Prize for Architecture 2018 – applications accepted until 31 July
In the 10th year of activity of the association (beginning in September 2008), PIDA – Premio Internazionale Ischia Di Architettura is back with ambitious goals and a fine program of exhibitions, conferences and debates that will begin in the month of July and conclude during the week from the 10 to 15 September.
The mission is confirmed of becoming the prize of reference for architecture and design of the most beautiful hotels and spas in the world, and to stimulate change in the constructed panorama of the island of Ischia through local design workshops.
Important new developments for this year include collaboration with the magazine Interni which becomes part of the prize jury, including the special section on interior design.
For this edition the title is Protopia Maio. As Kevin Kelly explains: “Protopia is a state that is better today than yesterday, although it might be only a little better. Protopia is much much harder to visualize. Because a protopia contains as many new problems as new benefits, this complex interaction of working and broken is very hard to predict.“
Two new sections have been introduced starting this year: PIDA Sisma and PIDA Sisma Recupero, i.e. prizes for public and private projects – new constructions or renovations – for protection against damages caused by earthquakes in geographical areas at risk.
Participation calls for a registration fee of €60. The guidelines can be downloaded at the website of the prize. The deadline for submissions is 31 July. On 26 August a short list of projects will be announced, indicating three submissions per section.
The awards will be announced on 14-15 September, for a total of 5000 euros. The jury is chaired by Prof. Luigi Prestinenza Puglisi.
