The first edition of the international fair of the production chain of window frames and interior and exterior finishes is a project byLucia Alberghino. Saie3 occupies an area of 35,000 m2.It is an event in which commerce meets culture. Initiatives include  8 gates to the future, an exhibition that interprets and underlines the ideas, values and stimuli found inItaliani di domani – 8 porte sul futuro, the latest book by Beppe Severgnini,a show that functions as an entrance and thematic guide to the fair, while lending its title to the opening conference, a discussion between the author and major names in architecture and design. Other events include the new edition of Futurdesign, with the participation of, among others, Marco Lodola, Andrea Branzi, Karim Rashid, Giulio Cappellini and Daniel Libeskind. The work “Ci vediamo a pranzo da me” by Lucio Dallaoffers a very personal interpretation of the Last Supper of Leonardo da Vinci; it was the protagonist of the 2001 edition of Futurdesign, and is now shown again with a video in which the late Bolognese singer-songwriter talks about his vision of the future. The future is also the focus of the exhibition entitled Up in the sky. Projects for post-earthquake reconstruction, in which architects and designers offer ideas and projects for the reconstruction of steeples that collapsed or were damaged during the earthquake that struck the Emilia region last spring. Amidst the pavilions of Saie3, there will also be the exhibition Signatures and Colors, a project curated by Laura Villanithat involves over 100 architects and designers, leading fashion designers, artists and sports champions, actors and singers, including Alessandro Mendini, Karim Rashid, Claudio Bellini, Paul Chemetov, Mario Botta, Andrea Branzi, Silvia Suardi, Aldo Cibic, Mario Cucinella, Natalie Du Pasquier, Claudio Nardi, Maria Christina Hamel, Pier Luigi Cerri, Anna Gili, Michele De Lucchi, Terry Dwan, Massimo Iosa Ghini, Ugo La Pietra, Mario Bellini, Matteo Thun, Denis Santachiara, Fernando & Humberto Campana, Shigeru Ban, Matali Crasset, Alvaro Siza, Karim Rashid, Marco Lodola, Jacopo Foggini, Maurizio Galimberti, Andrearauch, Luigi Serafini, ElioFiorucci, Diego Dolcini, Mariuccia Mandelli Krizia,  Nanni Strada, Agatha Ruiz De La Prada. Another exhibition looks at PVC. Finally, historical centers are the protagonists of the initiative on urban furnishings and environmental sustainability, created in collaboration with the magazine Paysage, entitled “Talking Cities”: an international forum, an exhibition at the fair, and an off-site event visible in the most beautiful squares and streets of Bologna, from 26 February until 10 March. www.saie3.com.
