Biennale Architettura 2023: who is the curator and what is the theme?
The curator of 18. Mostra Internazionale di Architettura is Lesley Lokko, a Ghanaian/Scottish architect, professor of architecture and writer, former member of the International Jury of the 17th Architecture Biennale.
The theme is The Laboratory of the Future and will have Africa at its center even if, Lokko explains, it will not be an exhibition on Africa. As the youngest continent on the planet and also the one with the highest rate of urbanization, Africa will serve as a laboratory model from which to build the future.

What's the best way to visit the 2023 Architecture Biennale in Venice?
Like every Biennale, the Architecture Biennale also consists of:
- a major authorial exhibition, which recounts a curatorial thesis (which gives the Biennale its title) through selected projects
- national presences (the Pavilions), which interpret the curatorial thesis with the best of what each single country is capable of producing
The authorial section can be visited in the Central Pavilion of the Gardens and continues in the Corderie of the Arsenale.
The national pavilions are instead located in the remaining parts of the Giardini and the Arsenale.
The advice is to take at least two days for the visit and to start with the Central Pavilion of the Giardini and then continue to the Arsenale (first day); then moving on to the National Pavilions (second day).
