16 large sculptures proposed on display, first, and on sale through a charity auction, then. It is the program of Designer's Dream, the project organized by Superstudio with the curatorship of the founder Gisella Borioli, in collaboration with Christie's and Slide Art in support of MuseoCity.
The exhibition, which opens on January 24, 2024 and features 16 important pieces created by internationally renowned designers and artists and coming from the Slide brand collection of luminous furniture and accessories in rotational plastic who donated them, will end on the 30th of the month with an auction held by Christie's for charity.
The objective is to support the non-profit association MuseoCity, which coordinates more than 100 museums in Milan and which for 2024 plans to broaden its use through inclusive actions with a view to a 'Museum for everyone'.
Furthermore, the funds raised from the auction will be invested with the aim of enriching the annual event of Milano MuseoCity - the event that transforms the city into a widespread museum thanks to the coordinated opening of over 100 museums, scheduled this year from 1 to 5 March 2024.
Slide also considered the occasion as a commemorative moment: in fact, it was at the time who commissioned the 16 sculptures featured in Designer's Dream >Giò Colonna Romano, the recently deceased founder of Slide Art whose strong passion for art the company (which turns 20 this year!) wishes to celebrate.
In fact, it is precisely from this passion that the Slide Art section derives, a division created with the aim of giving designers the opportunity to design without functional and commercial limits, leaving the imagination free to roam where everything is permit. Thus, over time, Giò Colonna Romano has collected these great works from excellent personalities of the national and international artistic heritage, including Alessandro Mendini, Fabio Rotella, Alex Mocika, Flavio Lucchini, Denis Santachiara, Alessandro Guerriero to name a few.
In a mix of works which are, each in their own way, an expression of contemporaneity, allusion, colour, play, mystery.
The sculptures will be on display in the Lounge Lounge of Superstudio Più from 24 to 30 January 2024 every weekday afternoon from 2.30pm to 6.30pm or by appointment, and will be auctioned on 30 January at 6.30pm, in the presence of some authors.
