Macro, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome, presents a solo show by Sterling Ruby, whose research covers sculpture, painting, drawing, photography and video. Ruby works in Los Angeles and has achieved international acclaim as one of the most interesting artists of the last few years. The show, curated by Maria Alicata, with coordination by Damiana Leoniand the support of Depart Foundation and SINV, has been conceived as a single, large work: an installation composed of ‘soft sculptures’ like large cushions. Each phase of the show presents a series, in continuous evolution, of these soft and ‘monstrous’ sculptural bodies, with protruding forms suspended in space.
