Stockholm Design Week(4/7 February 2014) goes red, white and green thanks to “Tempo Italiano,” the festival of Italian contemporary design invented and organized by Patrizia Coggiola. The art direction and exhibit design, inside the Italian Cultural Institute in Stockholm (a space interpreted by Giò Ponti back in the 1950s), are by Navone Associati, creating a setting in which to present a selection of Italian design based on the leitmotiv of “time”: the chronological lifetime of a product (the time needed to create, produce, distribute, use, reach obsolescence and be regenerated). Projects include: Re-Fire by Francesco Faccin (photo) is a kit for lighting a fire by hand, using contemporary production processes and tools, accessible to all; Cristina Celestino presents her Atticocollection of furnishings and lamps, the result of the expertise of small local artisans and industrial processes connected with small editions and a wealth of detail; Duccio Maria Gambi creates furnishings and sculptures, one-offs and limited editions, in cement reinforced with fiberglass; RestartMilano, a project by Luca Liberali and Maurizio Navone, proposes a series of articles rooted in design history and in the productive know-how typical of Italian manufacturers. Among the companies involved: Estel, GamFratesi, G.T. Design, Internoitaliano, Serralunga, Tobeus, Valcucine. There will also be an intense program of seminars during the four days of the event.
