Glass in Venice is the title of the important pact between the Venetian Institute of Sciences, Letters and the Arts and the Civic Museums of Venice Foundation, recently presented at the ceremony for the first addition of the prize of the same name, one of the initiatives of this new, strategic collaboration. Already full of contents and programs, the project Glass in Venice is the expression of the will of these two important Venetian institutions to activate close collaboration for a set of initiatives that focus on the legacy of glassmaking, on an international level. The goal is to reinforce Venice’s position as a cultural laboratory and meeting place between the masters of the art of Murano, artists and institutions on an international level. The first edition of the Glass in Venice Prize went to the Murano-based master Pino Signorottoand the Swedish artist Bertil Vallien. The prize honors artists and master craftsmen of glass, for their particular achievements working in the great Murano tradition, or in the world through different schools and techniques.
