ArtVerona: the 16th edition scheduled at Veronafiere from 15 to 17 October 2021

135 galleries are already participating in the 16th edition of ArtVerona, a fair dedicated to modern and contemporary art under the artistic direction of Stefano Raimondi. An important and encouraging result, after more than a year of blocking of national and international exhibition activities, which confirms the centrality of ArtVerona in the panorama of sector events.

There are seven sections of the fair, with various novelties: in addition to the modern and contemporary art galleries of the Main Section, ample space will in fact be given to emerging and experimental realities, residences, non-profit spaces and art magazines. The new Evolution section consists of six galleries that work with artists capable of developing their research through artificial intelligence, social networks, robotics, video games, 3D animations, Coding, Big Data and nanotechnologies.

Introduction, one of the main novelties of the 2021 edition curated by Giacinto Di Pietrantonio, hosts six young galleries recommended by as many of the most important and recognized Italian “historical” galleries. Lab1, curated by Giulia Floris, is the new project dedicated to artistic residences and non-profit experimental realities active in Italy for contemporary art. Seven spaces called to develop a project for the fair in dialogue with an institutional residency program active in Italy. Solo is the section that invites nine participating galleries to enhance a young Italian artist with a monographic project, while Next is the space dedicated to 15 galleries that present and promote up to three talents from the most recent generations.

Pages is a special project, curated by Ginevra Bria, which supports the traditional section dedicated to publishing, inviting six magazines - Archivio, Artribune, Exibart, ISIT.magazine, Kabul and Perimetro - to present their own history, the role of criticism , information and connections with artists, immersed in the Italian art system, through a monographic curatorship project. ArtVerona has entrusted Paola Pivi with the immersive Red Carpet project, which will take the form of an entirely livable carpet in the Galleria dei Signori, a large space between the pavilions of the fair.

As part of the awards and recognitions, ArtVerona strengthens its commitment to the Italian System with two new awards: the Massimiliano Galliani Award for under 35 drawing, dedicated to drawing and emerging visual research, and the De Buris Famiglia Tommasi Award, open to all young Italian and foreign figurative artists under 35. All other awards have been confirmed: Icon Award, Acquisition Fund A Disposition, Veronafiere per arte, Level 0, to which the main Italian foundations and museums adhere. A Collection, Studio Montani Tesei Award under 35, Casarini Duetorrihotels Award for painting under 35, MZ Costruzioni Award, Display Award and Sustainable Art Prize, promoted by the Ca 'Foscari University of Venice.

The Standchat conversations between the public and the artists will be entrusted to Saverio Verini and from this year also with the gallery owners who represent them, thus extending the dialogue to another key figure in the art system. Furthermore, after the online appointments of the last few months with Talks and Counterpoint, the ArtVerona meetings return to coincide with the fair with the new Talknow! podcast project.

The 2021 edition of ArtVerona puts the city at the center of the cultural offer, giving the opportunity to visit even unexplored places. In the sign of collaboration with the main public and private institutions of the city, ArtVerona presents Art & the City, a program of cultural initiatives dedicated to collecting, performance and video art.
