Interni and Spain: a relationship built over time

INTERNI Magazine arrives at the Madrid Design Festival with a project that underlines the fundamental role of cultural exchange between countries, a value on which the magazine, founded in 1954 and since then a leader in the architecture and design sectors, has built its editorial strategy since 1994, the year in which the direction of Gilda Bojardi began.

In particular, the relationship with Spain, thanks to its historical affinities with Italy in terms of sociological and cultural identity and the fruitful collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Madrid, has always been close to Interni's heart, which it has created over the years a series of events and projects that reflect the synergistic relationship between the two countries.

The Design competition. A trip to Italy and Spain

First of all, the “Design. A trip to Italy and Spain”, defined in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Madrid in 2018 and now in its fourth edition.

The competition, aimed at students of Spanish schools of design and architecture, aims to create a relationship between the world of Spanish design and that of manufacturing in Italy, inviting participants to submit an original project accompanied by a tutor from the school.

In the logic of collaboration between the two countries, takes shape a jury made up of representatives of prestigious Italian and Spanish institutions (ADI, Federlegno, Politecnico di Milano, for Italy, and ADI-FAD, COAM, DIMAD, ADI-FAD for Spain).

Under the supervision of Interni and the Embassy, the jury selects the most interesting applications, which are then prototyped by a group of furniture and design companies in Italy.

Spanish designers at FuoriSalone 2023

In this context of exchange, the selected projects, after being awarded in Madrid during the Madrid Design Festival 2023, will be exhibited in April in Milan during the FuoriSalone at 'INTERNI Design Re-Evolution', the exhibition organized by INTERNI at the University of Milan.

The work will then return to the Embassy of Madrid, which will select various cities and realities for the presentation of the results.

And while Milan showcases Spanish design, Madrid welcomes the creativity of great Italian architects.

In October 2022, during the Semana de la Ciencia y la Innovación 2022, the Real Jardín Botánico in Madrid hosted one of the projects produced by Interni for Re-Generation, the exhibition organized by the magazine for FuoriSalone 2022.
